For our light affliction, which is but for a
moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal
weight of glory...
(2 Corinthians 4:17)
Let's look at some additional verses that will tie all
this together...
Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for
great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted
the prophets who were before you. (Matthew
5:12)
For I consider that the sufferings of this present
time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which
shall be revealed in us. But if we hope for what we do not see, we
eagerly wait for it with perseverance. (Romans 8:18, 25)
Now let's dig a little deeper and look at our future
heavenly inheritance...
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord
Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has
begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of
Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible and
undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for
you, who are kept by the power of God through faith for
salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a
little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various
trials, that the genuineness of your faith, being much
more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by
fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation
of Jesus Christ, whom having not seen you love. Though now
you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy
inexpressible and full of glory, receiving the end of your
faith—the salvation of your souls. (1
Peter 1:3-9)
God is giving us the promise and direction to keep on
keepin on. He won't do it for us, but He promises to give us His
power when we feel weak.
He promises to give power to the faint, and increase the
strength to them that have no might. He says in these verses in
Isaiah that we WILL soar on wings like eagles, we WILL run and not
faint, and we will walk and not grow weary.
All of this is a great and precious promise as we look
to our heavenly home with God. Then He will wipe every tear from our
eyes, remove all sorrow and pain, and replace all that bad stuff with
everlasting joy!
Who could ask for
anything more????
So think about that "far more exceeding weight of
glory, even in the midst of the pain, the trials and persecution.
That's all temporary, but God's great and precious promises are
eternal.
Yes and Amen! See 2 Corinthians 1:20
Finally,
But
as it is written:
“Eye
has not seen, nor ear heard,
Nor
have entered into the heart of man
The
things which God has prepared
for
those who love Him.”
(1
Corinthians 2:9)
