Notes From Today - Addiction and Rebellion

Sunday July 24, 2016 Hanny Lynn Stearns Fish N Loaves Ministries, Inc. Multiplying God's Word Around The Globe

I thought I would share my Sunday notes. As a former food addict, I had a slip yesterday. Below is what the Lord has shown me both at home and at church this morning. I felt led to share it with anyone who might benefit from it. God bless you all!
Hanny
2 Thessalonians 1:11-12
Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power:
That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
2 Thessalonians 3:3-4
But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil.
And we have confidence in the Lord touching you, that ye both do and will do the things which we command you.
1 Timothy 4:8
For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.
1 Timothy 4:14-16
Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.
Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.
Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.

Notes From Church and what the Lord showed me at home today:

It takes a willing heart to have a hearing ear.

Matthew 11:15
He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
Also, Romans 6 – Dead to Sin – Alive to God
What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
For he that is dead is freed from sin.
Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:
Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.
10 For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.
11 Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.
13 Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.
14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.
16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.
18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.
19 I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.
20 For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness.
21 What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death.
22 But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.
23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Matthew 3:8
Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance
Psalm 61:8
So will I sing praise unto thy name for ever, that I may daily perform my vows. (Every single day!)
Psalm 65:1
Praise waiteth for thee, O God, in Sion: and unto thee shall the vow be performed. (Every single day!)
Psalm 116:14
I will pay my vows unto the Lord now in the presence of all his people. (What I do in front of my brethren counts – big time!)
Notes: It takes a willing heart to have a hearing ear. If we are not willing to listen and be corrected, we won’t hear. God won’t speak what we may seriously need to hear if He knows our hearts are not willing to listen.
Unwillingness in any area of our lives will prevent us from getting our answers. Rebellion is the same as the sin of witchcraft – they are both just as bad.
1 Samuel 15:23
For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the Lord, he hath also rejected thee from being king.
Proverbs 17:11
An evil man seeketh only rebellion: therefore a cruel messenger shall be sent against him.
Proverbs 28:13
He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.
The Lord wants to show us mercy, but we have to confess and stop being rebellious. We have to stop doing what we were doing and change. Then He can show us a lot of mercy.
Isaiah 1:19-20
If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:
But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.

If we are not eating the best of the land, we need to look at our hearts. Are we being stubborn, unwilling, disobedient or rebellious?
We should judge ourselves and we will not be judged. The devil is looking to gain access to us so we will be judged. We will either consume, or be consumed.
We cannot allow the flesh to triumph in our life. We need to allow our spirit to rule our flesh at all times, not the other way around.
Acts 20:24
But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

Addiction is a lack of faith. When God has told us to do something and we don’t, it is rebellion. And rebellion comes from the devil. We do not want to be like the devil in any way. We cannot count our lives so dear to us. If we let go and trust God every day, just one day at a time, He will sustain us and not allow us to be moved. He never leaves us forsaken or begging bread. We lack no good thing when we walk uprightly in Him. Whatever we have been addicted to in the past, we can let go of completely and grab onto Jesus. He will pull us through. We only need to be willing.
Father in heaven;
Thank You for showing me where I have been rebellious. I ask You to forgive me Lord in the name of Jesus. Father, I ask You to cleanse me from all unrighteousness according to Your word in 1 John 1:9. And according to Psalm 51, I ask You to create in me a clean heart O my God, and renew a right spirit within me. Give me a heart of flesh as You said in Your word, and cause me to see your face when I awake in Your likeness in Jesus name. Amen.
