Week 11 - The 3rd John 2 Program - Real Healing From Food Addiction for God's People - Week 11 - Jesus Will Quiet You With His Love

Jesus Will Quiet You with His Love

Zephaniah 3:17

The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.

My Experience, Strength & Hope

How many people out there really know that they know that God is in our midst? Especially those who have been hurting, I mean? Those who are called His own? Do people really know that He is with them? I used to have times when I wondered if He was. That has been a while back now. Since then I have learned by His ever-faithful word that He really is always with me. I have learned that He will never leave me or turn against me. That gives me great comfort. How about you? Do you really understand that Jesus, as your Savior, is right there in your midst?

In the moments when we are tired and the enemy is trying everything he can think of to turn our thinking from good thoughts of the Lord to the negative thoughts that our feelings or emotions may be trying to scream at us, we can rest firmly on the fact that the Lord our God is for us, He is with us, and He loves us. That alone should bring any one of His children great comfort.

Yes, there will be times when we just need to let some tears loose, and that’s OK. The morning I wrote this I was tired. I was up late and my normal schedule was off, so I felt almost as if I had a ‘hang over’. It does not feel good to my flesh. I am an early to rise and early to bed person. Unless the Lord gets me up in the night, I need to be in bed at a certain time every night and get sound sleep so I can wake the next morning refreshed and ready for a wonderful new day with my Savior.

So what do we do when the emotions roll over us like a flood? The first thing we need to do is keep our thinking in check. With all the issues I previously struggled with, I know how dangerous it can be to give in to ‘fleshy’ thinking. The first and best thing to do is to get into the presence of the Lord with worship, praise and thanks. Yes, it may be difficult when we are feeling low, but I can assure you that doing this will lift you more than anything else. He can quiet those raging emotions in His loving presence like nothing else can. Secondly, we need to renew our mind in the water of the word of God. It is like giving our mind a bath. We must slap down any negative thought that tries to enter. We must remember that the Mighty One will save me from every fear and destruction when we fully trust in Him. We give in to His word – not our feelings or emotions.

We must take God at His word and make it work for us each and every day. No matter what we may be facing or feeling on a given day – there is something in God’s word that we can grab on to in order to counteract any negativity that may be coming our way. Jesus did that in the desert when satan tempted Him, as in other instances. That is how He remained victorious at all times. We can get there too friends. We just have to pick up the tools we have been given by the Lord and use them.

A hammer sitting in the tool shed is useless until the palm of a hand wraps itself around the handle and lifts it from the sitting position. When the hand starts to swing the hammer, it begins to do the work it was created to do. It is no different with God’s word.

When we pick it up from our Bibles and start to work it and speak it out loud by faith over ourselves and our circumstances, it begins to do the work that the Lord sent it to do – and His tools (His word) never returns from a swing without hitting the mark every time. He always watches over His word to perform it.

Sometimes the thought of letting go of whatever we have been using as a pacifier may seem more painful than we can bear – but that pain will only last as long as we focus on the pacifier rather than the word of God. We need to remember that the Lord will comfort us. He will quiet those raging emotions. He rejoices over us – isn’t that a wonderful truth to meditate on? When was the last time a person rejoiced over you? I don’t know about you, but it doesn’t happen too often for me. And even if it did, it would never be enough. Sure, it is nice to have people who love us and get excited when we are around. That is all good. But people, places and things (chariots and horses) are never enough.

It is the love from the heart of God who is ever rejoicing over His children that really makes us believe we can go on and keep taking another step, just one day at a time. He is glad about us. Isn’t that great? He is really glad about you and me. He loves and adores us. He has done everything for us. Now He just takes great delight in us. And the closer we draw to Him, the more delighted He is. That morning I needed to be quieted with His love. I just turned on some music and let Him lead it. It was quite amazing as I discovered the songs He chose. Some were about my mansion He is working on for me, and others were about the victory I have in Jesus. Still another song was about believing what He said. His word – the only real truth that I can cling to – and you can too!

As I sat there on the floor and cried, He quieted me step by loving step. He comforted me. It was as if He was personally singing these songs to me. I came to worship Him, but He came to sing to me! He is so precious saints! We can look forward to one day hearing the Master sing to us in heaven and that is gonna be off the charts magnificent beyond our greatest imaginations – oh hallelujah!

Until then, why not just allow Him to comfort you and quiet you and sing His songs of love to you? After that, you will not be able to walk away sad, anxious or fearful about anything. Remember to put your faith in His word today and then stand back and watch it work for you!

Scriptures from This Message…

Psalm 73:23

Nevertheless I am continually with thee: thou hast holden me by my right hand.

Job 34:29

When he giveth quietness, who then can make trouble? and when he hideth his face, who then can behold him? whether it be done against a nation, or against a man only.

Isaiah 32:17

And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.

Romans 8:35-39

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.

Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Psalm 103:1-5

Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's.

Psalm 23

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
