Romans 8:31-39

God’s Everlasting Love

What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies.  Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written:
“For Your sake we are killed all day long;
We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.”
Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

God is for you! Do you know that? Do you really know that? Stop and think about it for a moment. He is for you! So if that is the case, who can (successfully) be against us? Nobody – nothing! Hallelujah! The enemy is against us, but he cannot succeed in it. With God on our side, we cannot help but to be successful. But we have to believe it. He has proven His love for us. He gave His Son for us. That is all the proof anyone should ever need. There is not one thing more that God can do to prove His love for us. He has already done it. Believing it is our choice after that. It is simple. It does not have to be complicated.

We all need love. We were created that way. When people do not feel loved, they reach out and grab the closest thing to love that they can find. Sadly, many turn to food and drugs of every sort to soothe and comfort when God is all we really need. It is impossible for us to understand how He does it, but God fills us up where we need it in our hearts. All we have to do is turn to Him and ask Him to. He will respond immediately to a request like that.

Just this weekend a friend of mine said that even while she was reading a devotional, the physical hunger she thought she had just went away. She had fed on the word of God and what she thought was physical hunger turned out to be “heart hunger” that only God could fill – and He did. She was no longer hungry by the time she finished reading.

In our verses today it says that the Lord will freely give us all things. That means we can ask for any need and He will give it. God is a giver. All the time He deeply desires to give us what our hearts need the most – His love. If food or drugs, (or whatever a person has depended on to try to fill the void) could truly satisfy us, then we would be happy all the time. But we are not when we are relying on something other than God’s love to satisfy our deep heart hunger.

When we fill up on His love, we feel good during, and long after our time with Him is over and we move into the other parts of our day – knowing that He is always with us. He has proven His love and every moment that we experience His joy, we have proof that His love works.

Jesus is praying for us every day. Isn’t that wonderful to know? Right now, He is praying for you to succeed – to come up higher. He wants you to succeed in everything you do. Isn’t it wonderful to know deep down in your soul that this is true?

As Paul wrote in these verses, there is not one thing that can separate us from God’s love. Not one thing. Stop and let this sink in for a moment. He loves you every single moment.

Because you are in Christ through the rebirth, you are more than a conqueror. Yes, more than…. That means that you not only conquer your obstacles in life, but you rise far above them – all through Christ in you, the hope of glory. If God’s word says it, then all you have to do is believe it and it will work for you. His word cannot fail. Faith causes it to ignite in our hearts.

Remember today and every day that there is nothing that can separate us from His love. Make this verse real by saying it out loud over yourself. Put your name in there and make it personal. Ask the Lord to help you. Find verses in the Bible that speak of His power made perfect in your weakness and stand on them every day.

Remember, when we are breaking free from a bad habit (addiction) that it is a one day at a time walk. Not two days, two weeks or two months. Don’t try to look at what may happen tomorrow or the next day. Stay in today and stay in His love. He will not fail you.

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for Your love that never fails. Thank You for Your word that brings power into to my life to achieve great things. Thank You for loving me through this struggle and bringing me safely to the other side of it. Thank You for Jesus prayers over me. And thank You Father for making me more than a conqueror and always causing me to triumph in every battle I face in Jesus. Bring glory to Yourself in my life today and always. I thank You in advance as I believe I have already received the answer to this prayer in Jesus name. Amen.
