Is It God’s
Will for His People to Prosper?
As we meditate on the
following verse, let’s listen to the Father’s heart for His people as spoken
through the apostle John…
3 John 2
Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health,
even as thy soul prospereth.
God is showing us an important example in the wording, “above all else.”
That’s God’s highest and best for us. It’s what He wants for us and it is His
ultimate plan for us. Look at the following verse from a long time ago…
Psalm 35:27
Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour my righteous cause:
yea, let them say continually, Let the Lord be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of
his servant.
Could it be any clearer than this? Let’s keep looking at the word of God
and continue to see what His will for us in the area of prosperity really is…
Deuteronomy 8:18
But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get
wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as
it is this day.
Once we really look at the scriptures to see how much God wants to bless
us, we can see that it is His will and His ability to give us all the treasures
of the earth He created. And once we have all that we need and more, we must
keep Him in the center of it all. We should bless Him for all His blessings to
us. He is so good. Look at this…
Deuteronomy 8:7-10
For the Lord thy God bringeth thee into a good land, a land of brooks of
water, of fountains and depths that spring out of valleys and hills; a
land of wheat, and barley, and vines, and fig trees, and pomegranates; a land
of oil olive, and honey; a land wherein thou shalt eat bread without
scarceness, thou shalt not lack any thing in it; a land whose stones are iron,
and out of whose hills thou mayest dig brass. When thou hast eaten and
art full, then thou shalt bless the Lord thy
God for the good land which he hath given thee.
Now look at this in the Amplified Bible version…
Philippians 4:19 AMP
And my God will liberally supply (fill until full) your every need
according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
Does this leave even a
shred of doubt in your heart and mind that God wants to supply everything you
need and so much more so that you can be a blessing to others? It would be
rather shocking if you said “yes.” God does not lie. He wants nothing but good
for His people. And He wants to use those blessings to be an example to those
outside of the family of God. It’s that rich goodness that will draw others in
like a magnet. Only God’s magnet is one of pure love.
Prosperity, supernatural
increase and abundance is meant for us all as children of the Most High God.
There is no lack in the house of God.
Abraham lacked nothing.
Here’s what we know from the beginning when he was still called “Abram.”
Genesis 13:2
And Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold.
Solomon lacked nothing. Read
all of 1 Kings 4 to get a snapshot of all that God had given him. Look at this
one verse to say it in a sentence…
1 Kings 4:27
And those officers
provided victual for king Solomon, and for all that came unto king Solomon's
table, every man in his month: they lacked nothing.
David lacked nothing. One
can read about the life and provisions at his table. We could go on and on
throughout the many stories of the men and women of God who had wealth. It all
says the same thing. God wants His people to be very prosperous.
If we will spend the time
to look at this book of God’s promises and meditate on it day and night, day in
and day out, we will come to truly know and understand the will of God. His
will is physical health. His will is a healthy soul (the mind, the way we
think, our will – conformed to His will, and our emotions – solid and stable in
Him without fluctuating all over the place taking us out of a position of faith).
That is God’s will for His people. To know Him is to know His will.
Psalm 34:10
The young lions do lack and suffer hunger: but they that
seek the Lord shall not
want any good thing.
Moving on, let’s look at just a couple more promises from God regarding
the prosperity of His people…
2 Chronicles 16:9
For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew
himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him.
Proverbs 10:22
The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.
God is in a covenant with us that He Himself established.
His part is to prosper us. Our part is to first BELIEVE IT, then
after that we must take action to RECEIVE IT by faith!
The Lord will never fail to keep His end of an agreement. The part most
Christians fail to see is that they have a responsibility in the equation.
It has been stated that true prosperity is having the ability to use
God’s power to meet the needs of mankind in every area of life – spirit, soul
and body; financially, emotionally, etc.
As we finish this review of God’s will to prosper us, take some time to
really look at the word of God on your own As you do, say the words out loud.
When we read it, say it and believe it, the faith will build into a “crescendo
of prosperity” in our lives. Give God all the praise for His goodness to men.
