Church on The Spot!

Witness Where You Are

Church on the Spot!

This past week was an awesome move of God in the people we have been working with! At a weekend home show here in Ft. Myers, we had the privilege of working with a very nice man that we have done several events with over the past many months.

I began witnessing to him, and little by little, he listened and was open to hear the gospel. I could see he has hurt in his heart, and that he was tender and open to hear the good news about a loving relationship with Jesus. We have a wonderful picture of me talking with him, but for privacy sake, I am not including it here.

We were working with him greeting seniors all day Saturday and Sunday this past weekend. Every time we had some quiet time, I just kept talking with him. It was awesome to see how Holy Spirit was touching him and bringing him to tears. (And me!) One thing led to another and he said he was open to giving his life to Jesus. He assured me that he was taking this very seriously.

We had other encounters with people that were very touching, and we could see the Lord really moving. We had gone to early church service Sunday and then rushed over to our event and we could immediately see God answering prayers. The whole point this week is to remember to take advantage of every situation we may find ourselves in.

Many times, leading someone to Jesus isn't just a "one and done" encounter. It is a delicate process of allowing the Lord to "pull the plug" in a person's heart by explaining things and answering questions. As we finished up our long weekend, we were more than in awe of what God had done. Our work does have to do with helping seniors with their health insurance plans, but ultimately, we always look to bring Jesus into the conversation and watch what the Lord will do. Here is what the Bible tells us to do, no matter where we are at:

And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. (mark 16:15)

Be encouraged to get out there in the days to come and make a difference that could change somebody's eternity! Your "world" is wherever you are.

How Can We Help Others Best?

How Can We help Others Best?

How many times have you had someone you love very much come to you for help in a very serious situation? If you are like most of us, it has happened many times. So often we can allow our feelings and deep emotions take over and cause us to want to step in to help perhaps a bit more than we should.

We know that God works through people. He doesn't drop things out of heaven. But He did send us Holy Spirit to help us have wisdom. The Bible tells us if we lack wisdom we should ask, and God will undoubtedly give it. That's why Holy Spirit is called our Helper and Counselor.

What happens when we do more than we should in a given situation? We can overstep our bounds and get in God's way of helping someone in a way that would have turned out better if we had left it to the Lord. They may have a great need, but God says He will meet all those needs...

And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. (Phil. 4:19)

I have been through many situations where loved ones have been concerned and I longed to do more to help, but I knew I had to step back and call on the Lord, and then trust Him to handle it. Look at this...

Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me.”

(Psalm 50:15)

This week we had an opportunity to reach out and help a dear friend that's very close to us and somewhat elderly. We did what the Lord led us to do, and then we were alerted about when to step back and allow her to call on the Lord for herself. He promises that when someone calls on Him and trusts Him to help, He will. Our God is rich in mercy and compassion.

When we don't know what else to do, or what part we should have in all of it, give it to God. Then and only then will He get involved and do what only He can do. This will also remove the stress and pressure from our lives as we fully depend on Him.

If we are helping orphans and widows, as the Bible says, that's great. Family members present their own unique needs and situations. Let's all remember to go to God for wisdom and instruction and then watch Him do the miracles only He is good at! Have a blessed week.

Facing Your Giants

Where Does Your Help Come From?

Facing Your Giants

bible story illustration_ david against goliath_ good for story books_ children s bibles_ posters_ websites_ printing and more

What are you facing in your life that looks really big right now? Life can be full of giants, both seen and those unseen. Most of us know what those are. They are things we need help with, things that look just too big for us to possibly handle. But God!

I recently read the story of David and Goliath again. I always wondered about those 5 smooth stones he had picked up when he was going to face Goliath. I always wondered why he did that, and we know from the story that it only took one to do the job.

Remember, he had been offered a bunch of heavy armor to wear into the battle. It was stuff he wasn't used to using and made him uncomfortable. So he took off all that junk, and just grabbed what he normally would use when facing things like bears and lions as he protected the sheep. He did what he could in the natural realm, and went in there determined to take out this enemy who was defying his his God.

What we learn from reading the old testament is that Jesus shows up in every single book, even though He hadn't come to earth yet in a physical body. Ok, as I read this story what came to mind is that Jesus is our Rock. The Lord got right into the middle of that battle and became for David his Rock that would take the giant out! All he did was to bravely go forward in faith, and Jesus got right in it with him. Hallelujah!

Look at this:

For who is God, except the Lord? And who is a Rock, except our God? (Ps. 18:31)

Just like the rock that Moses struck was a representation of Jesus, and what He would represent for all of us who put our trust in Him, so that rock that David flung at Goliath was the Lord's power. Amazing!

The bottom line is this. When we face anything difficult in our lives, we too can throw the Rock of our salvation at those situations and know that with Jesus in the battle, we always win and the enemy will fall.

Oh come, let us sing to the Lord! Let shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation. (Ps. 95:1)

The Lord lives! Blessed be my Rock! Let God be exalted, the Rock of my salvation. (2 Sam. 22:47)

That's good news. Maybe we just needed to get that refresher today. Maybe someone reading this needed to be encouraged that our God, our Rock is the only place where our help comes from. We can't put our trust in natural things - we need Jesus in everything - all up in our business if you know what I mean.

Be encouraged today my friend and share it with someone else. Everyone needs to be encouraged from time to time. May God bless you richly as you face down your giants.

The Forge

Tried by Fire

Forging Ahead

This week, we saw the movie "The Forge." It had a tremendous impact on me. My husband and I were deeply touched by it and I cried so much. It is a must see for every follower of Jesus Christ! It is sure to have an impact on us all.

I looked up the meaning of the word "Forge." It is a furnace where iron or other metal is heated into a form. Knowing this, we can see why they called the movie what they did. In the film, we see how to use our place in life to make an impact on another convert to help them become a disciple of Jesus.

Once we get born again, or come back to the Lord and surrender our lives to Him, there is a time of intense learning and developing spiritually that must take place. In this season of every new believer's life, it is the necessary transformation of going through the fire of cleansing and purging and transforming one's old thinking into new ways of handling our lives - God's way.

Many people may go to church and many may say they accepted Jesus in their hearts, but they never laid down their lives to follow Him. That is a sad truth in today's world. There are so many who say they believe in God and call themselves Christians, but never got to know Him and develop an active relationship with Him.

The process of going into the "forge" is to really become more like Jesus and less like the old us we used to be. My friend, this is a very difficult, yet necessary process we must all go through. As we do, the Lord Jesus will bring us many people we can make a difference for. The whole purpose of discipleship is for us to go out and do what the first disciples were appointed by Jesus to do:

Later He appeared to the eleven as they sat at the table; and He rebuked their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they did not believe those who had seen Him after He had risen. And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

Mark 16:14-18

As we walk with Jesus in this life, it should have made such an impact on us that we want to go out into our world, wherever we are planted, and make a difference in the lives of others. This week, I had a lady who I led to Jesus back in 2021 bring a friend in need to me. I led her to the place where she can get the counseling and deliverance that she needs.

From there, she will need to continue to grow and learn how to live as she follows Jesus. We consider it the highest honor to co-labor with our Lord Jesus to help others He wants us to touch and help.

How about you? Have you been so impacted by loving the Lord that you are out there helping others to do the same? May this message encourage you to draw closer to Jesus and allow Him to use you to change a hurting world. What can you do with Jesus once you have been through the "Forge?"
