When we
look at a picture like this one, it can seem pretty big and
overwhelming, right? Let's imagine for a moment what the disciples
must have felt like when they were with Jesus in a boat and a mighty
storm developed;
On
the same day, when evening had come, He said to them, “Let us
cross over to the other side.” Now when they had left the
multitude, they took Him along in the boat as He was. And other
little boats were also with Him. And a great windstorm arose,
and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already
filling. But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they
awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that
we are perishing?”
Then
He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace,
be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great
calm. But He said to them, “Why are you so
fearful? How is it that you have no faith?” And they
feared exceedingly, and said to one another, “Who can this be, that
even the wind and the sea obey Him!” (Mark 4:35-41)
Oh that
we would have this kind of faith! Not only against the current
weather system that we see headed our way, but in every storm that we
face in life! Jesus was showing them an example of what they
themselves could do. He came to earth to show us how we can manage
the storms and trials that we face. Here's another encouraging verse
I just read this morning;
Peace I leave
with you, My peace I give to you;
not as the world gives do I give to you. Let
not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. (John 14:27)
Today, as
we look outside our windows, we may see a little rain and wind, but
we can speak to that storm in full assurance of faith that our words
have the power to speak life and peace over the state of Florida! We
also have that same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead
living inside of us to take authority over every evil thing that
tries to set itself up against us.
Today,
may we all remember who we are in Christ and stand up to this evil
storm and say No! In Jesus Name, we rebuke you satan and this storm
must stop in Jesus Name! We know who we are in Christ and we remember
that no weapon that forms against us will prosper for we are the
children of the Most High God! We dwell in the secret place of the
Almighty and we abide in the shadow of His wings. He will deliver us
from trouble! (See all of Psalm 91)
Now
that's something to shout His praises about! Today be encouraged and
strengthened with all might in the inner man by His Spirit. Do not
fear! Our God is with us to help us! Hallelujah!
