Zephaniah 3:14-20

Joy in God’s Faithfulness

Sing, O daughter of Zion!
Shout, O Israel!
Be glad and rejoice with all your heart,
O daughter of Jerusalem!
The Lord has taken away your judgments,
He has cast out your enemy.
The King of Israel, the Lord, is in your midst;
You shall see disaster no more.
In that day it shall be said to Jerusalem:
“Do not fear;
Zion, let not your hands be weak.

 The Lord your God in your midst,
The Mighty One, will save;
He will rejoice over you with gladness,
He will quiet you with His love,
He will rejoice over you with singing.”

“I will gather those who sorrow over the appointed assembly,
Who are among you,
To whom its reproach is a burden.

Behold, at that time
I will deal with all who afflict you;
I will save the lame,
And gather those who were driven out;
I will appoint them for praise and fame
In every land where they were put to shame.

At that time I will bring you back,
Even at the time I gather you;
For I will give you fame and praise
Among all the peoples of the earth,
When I return your captives before your eyes,”
Says the Lord.

The Message Version:

So sing, Daughter Zion! Raise the rafters, Israel! Daughter Jerusalem, be happy! celebrate!
God has reversed his judgments against you and sent your enemies off chasing their tails.
From now on, God is Israel’s king, in charge at the center. There’s nothing to fear from evil ever again!

God Is Present Among You

Jerusalem will be told: “Don’t be afraid. Dear Zion, don’t despair. Your God is present among you, a strong Warrior there to save you. Happy to have you back, he’ll calm you with his love and delight you with his songs.

 The accumulated sorrows of your exile will dissipate. I, your God, will get rid of them for you. You’ve carried those burdens long enough. At the same time, I’ll get rid of all those who’ve made your life miserable. I’ll heal the maimed; I’ll bring home the homeless. In the very countries where they were hated they will be venerated. On Judgment Day I’ll bring you back home—a great family gathering! You’ll be famous and honored all over the world. You’ll see it with your own eyes— all those painful partings turned into reunions!” God’s Promise

Exodus 15:26 (Message)

That’s the place where God set up rules and procedures; that’s where he started testing them.
God said, “If you listen, listen obediently to how God tells you to live in his presence, obeying his commandments and keeping all his laws, then I won’t strike you with all the diseases that I inflicted on the Egyptians; I am God your healer.”

Jeremiah 9:23-34 (Message)

God’s Message:

“Don’t let the wise brag of their wisdom. Don’t let heroes brag of their exploits. Don’t let the rich brag of their riches. If you brag, brag of this and this only:
That you understand and know me.
 I’m God, and I act in loyal love.
I do what’s right and set things right and fair,
and delight in those who do the same things.
These are my trademarks.” God’s Decree.

Ecclesiastes 7:8 and 8:12

The end of a thing is better than its beginning;
The patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit.
Though a sinner does evil a hundred times, and his days are prolonged, yet I surely know that it will be well with those who fear God, who fear before Him.

Psalm 78:15,16,35,52

He split the rocks in the wilderness,
And gave them drink in abundance like the depths.
He also brought streams out of the rock,
And caused waters to run down like rivers.
Then they remembered that God was their rock,
And the Most High God their Redeemer.
But He made His own people go forth like sheep,
And guided them in the wilderness like a flock;

Psalm 101

I will sing of mercy and justice;
To You, O Lord, I will sing praises.
 I will behave wisely in a perfect way.
Oh, when will You come to me?
I will walk within my house with a perfect heart.
I will set nothing wicked before my eyes;
I hate the work of those who fall away;
It shall not cling to me.
A perverse heart shall depart from me;
I will not know wickedness.

Whoever secretly slanders his neighbor,
Him I will destroy;
The one who has a haughty look and a proud heart,
Him I will not endure.

My eyes shall be on the faithful of the land,
That they may dwell with me;
He who walks in a perfect way,
He shall serve me.

He who works deceit shall not dwell within my house;
He who tells lies shall not continue in my presence.
Early I will destroy all the wicked of the land,
That I may cut off all the evildoers from the city of the Lord.

Romans 4:21

and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform.

Romans 5:1-5

Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

Ephesians 6:10-18     The Whole Armor of God

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—

The Message Version   A Fight to the Finish

And that about wraps it up. God is strong, and he wants you strong. So take everything the Master has set out for you, well-made weapons of the best materials. And put them to use so you will be able to stand up to everything the Devil throws your way. This is no afternoon athletic contest that we’ll walk away from and forget about in a couple of hours. This is for keeps, a life-or-death fight to the finish against the Devil and all his angels.

Be prepared. You’re up against far more than you can handle on your own. Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued, so that when it’s all over but the shouting you’ll still be on your feet. Truth, righteousness, peace, faith, and salvation are more than words. Learn how to apply them. You’ll need them throughout your life. God’s Word is an indispensable weapon. In the same way, prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare. Pray hard and long. Pray for your brothers and sisters. Keep your eyes open. Keep each other’s spirits up so that no one falls behind or drops out.

John 1:23 (Message)

“I’m thunder in the desert: ‘Make the road straight for God!’ I’m doing what the prophet Isaiah preached.”
Psalm 119:60

I made haste, and did not delay to keep Your commandments

Verses 57-64 (Message Version)

Because you have satisfied me, God, I promise to do everything you say.
I beg you from the bottom of my heart: smile, be gracious to me just as you promised.

When I took a long, careful look at your ways, I got my feet back on the trail you blazed.
I was up at once, didn’t drag my feet, was quick to follow your orders.

The wicked hemmed me in—there was no way out— but not for a minute did I forget your plan for me. I get up in the middle of the night to thank you; your decisions are so right, so true—I can’t wait till morning! I’m a friend and companion of all who fear you, of those committed to living by your rules. Your love, God, fills the earth! Train me to live by your counsel.

Thank You Father that You sent Jesus to show Yourself to me in a form I could easily recognize – a man like I am (woman) and He knows the things I have battled with. He sympathizes with my weakness. I am Your child now, born of water and the Spirit – because You have loved me so much and rejoiced over me I know that You will cause me to triumph – You always do! You have given me the weaponry that I need to fight this good fight of faith and after having done all I will stand.

I glory in You and You alone. Me, I can do no good thing – oh but glory to God my Father, with God all things are possible. All the plans You have for me are perfect and they will come to pass. I will obey You and depend on You for I cannot do this alone. Every day I need You to deliver me from temptation. I know You have set me free from addiction and I walk in the light as You are light. I am blessed to be a blessing and seek to be used by You mightily Father. You have brought me out of my Egypt to my promised land and I will not fear as I destroy every giant that comes against me for no weapon formed against me will prosper, glory to God! I rejoice in Your presence, Your word and Your commands. Do not let my foot stumble, but deliver me from my enemies. Cause me to know Your lovingkindness in the morning and to sing Your praises all the day long! You are my source and my supply. I love you oh Lord my strength! I deeply desire to do Your will and put a big smile on Your face to be called a son in whom You are well pleased at all times. I am blessed to be on the earth to do all that You are calling me to do! Thank You Abba Father for Your great love! In Jesus name! Hallelujah to the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! Glory be to Your holy name!

Work God’s word by meditating on it, saying it, looking at it and above all – believing it! It will work for you!
