In the world you have tribulation and distress and suffering, but be courageous [be confident, be undaunted, be filled with joy]; I have overcome the world.” [My conquest is accomplished, My victory abiding.] (John 16:33) I'm in a season of learning how to better protect my peace. Maybe you can relate to this. What caught my attention this morning on this scripture was this. Do you see the part where Jesus said, "In the world you will have tribulation and distress and suffering?" Holy Spirit drew my attention to this I believe because the body of Christ today is allowing the world and it's ungodly ways to dump it's troubles on us, rather than us overcoming all that with Christ in us through the power of Holy Spirit living on the inside Who is ONLY peace. What many born again children have been allowing, myself included at times, is to let the world's problems crush us and make us feel troubled and anxious. But Jesus told us He overcame the world's troubles in His completed work on the cross. So if we are in Him, we should have perfect peace, right? Why aren't we experiencing this? What are we allowing in our lives that is taking the peace and joy and confidence we have as God's kids? Watch over your heart with all diligence, For from it flow the springs of life. (Proverbs 4:43) The very smartest thing we can do is stop, take an inventory of our hearts, and discover, with the Lord's help, what exactly we have going on in our lives that is allowing this. Then we repent by returning to our rest (Trust) in Him, knowing that He overcame for us, so now we really can overcome anything that tries to take our peace. Most folks just live with it until it gets the best of them. Don't let that be you. Be the one who stops and gets close in to Jesus and allow His love to permeate your heart, your thinking, and soothe your troubled emotions with His love. The Lord your God is in your midst, a Warrior who saves. He will rejoice over you with joy; He will be quiet in His love [making no mention of your past sins], He will rejoice over you with shouts of joy. (Zephaniah 3:17) There are countless scriptures in God's Word that can be meditated on to give us peace, or return us to a place of peace.
